The project
Who are we?
We are a group of students of Aldini Valeriani Upper Secondary School.
We decided together with our teacher to develop games for our peers to rise awareness about climate change and nuclear issues. The games we created will be presented by the City Hall office called "Show Room" to the schools of the city.
What about Nuclear Power?
Nuclear power is one of the lowest emitters of greenhouse gases available to generate electricity, and today it provides 10% of the world’s electricity. Because of this the use of nuclear power avoids the emission of great quantities of carbon dioxide.
In addition to that, Nuclear power doesn't rely on natural sources such as the Sun, the Wind and the Water - that during the year might vary in shape and intensity - which grants stability in the production of energy!

In Italy?
Since the Chernobyl disaster (1986) following a referendum, Italy no longer uses nuclear power plants to produce energy, but only for research purposes, for fear that a similar incident might happen again.

Why are we doing this project?
We focused on climate change and nuclear power because we think that the development of technology will help us. We are also following the development of the European ITER project on nuclear fusion.

What is the idea?
Our idea is to set up a non-profit company to raise awareness about nuclear power and climate change.
What does it do?
Informative/educational videos, games/quizzes, social media campaigns.
What problem does it solve?
We would like to provide reliable scientific information about nuclear energy. Young people knows everything about Chernobyl, but, they know almost nothing about nuclear medicine or nuclear fusion, they do not know that nuclear energy does not emit greenhouse gases.
Who are your customers?
We want to reach young students: they are the citizens of the future, and for this reason we have a responsibility to make them aware of the challenges we are facing.
How will you get your customers?
We want to reach people not only through our website and various social media but also using interactive quizzes, explanatory videos and simple board games.
How much do you love the thought of running your own business?
We are passionate about our project, we are focused, in Italian we say that “we put our heart” in this project.
How well do you think you stick to tasks when things get tough?
Even when things get complicated, our team is motivated to overcome the obstacles, which are inevitable in any project created by man.
How well do you believe you plan and keep on top of things?
We have weekly online meetings to plan our work, each student has specific tasks, during the online meeting we show each other what we have done. Each week we set up goals for the next week.

How confident are you at communicating your ideas?
We are exploring different styles of communication and different topics (climate change, nuclear fusion, but also nuclear medicine...). We study to report reliable updated information.
How much support do you feel you will get from your network (e.g. family, friends)?
At the beginning it was just a homework our teacher assigned, then our group of classmates became passionate about the project . We are getting support from each other and from our teachers, we are also involving younger students who joined our “virtual company”.
What things will you need to do to make the idea happen?
We should increase our visibility to reach more people.
